Offering up to 50 percent better fuel economy in the city than its non-hybrid counterpart, the Chevrolet Tahoe hybrid is the first full-size American hybrid SUV. Named the “Green Car of the Year” by the Green Car Journal, the 2008 Chevy Tahoe hybrid averages 20 miles per gallon on the highway and in the city. A fact that’s not easy to ignore with today’s skyrocketing gas prices.
The Tahoe hybrid can operate on either electric or engine power or both simultaneously. It’s equipped with a state-of-the-art Active Fuel Management system which also contributes to its overall fuel economy. Although this SUV is a hybrid, luxury is not sacrificed. Heated leather seats, seating for seven passengers, a navigational system and similar towing capacity to the original Tahoe are features that can’t be ignored.
Jason Vianese of Richard Chevrolet in Cheshire, one of the few dealerships in Connecticut to receive the Tahoe hybrid explained, “The Chevy Tahoe hybrid is one of the best SUVs on the market – offering the sedan fuel economy of a Toyota Camry while still having the luxurious and roomy accommodations of the Tahoe.”
And, as an added bonus to the money saved on gas, those who purchase the Tahoe hybrid also receive a $2,200 tax credit.
Vianese continued, “The Tahoe hybrid is an ideal choice for those families who need the seating capacity of a larger vehicle, but are concerned about their fuel consumption. One of our customers drove to Florida in his new Tahoe hybrid and said he got 26 miles to the gallon.”
In addition to the Tahoe hybrid, Richard Chevrolet offers a Malibu hybrid, which is economical on fuel as well as price. The Malibu hybrid with a 32 volt system offers owners a return on their investment early on – as well as a $1300 tax credit.
In celebration of Earth Day, Richard Chevrolet recently showcased a Tahoe hybrid and a Malibu hybrid at Pratt & Whitney’s Earth Day event held on May 2nd.
“There was a lot of excitement at Pratt & Whitney over the hybrid vehicles. Consumers in general are beginning to realize that today’s hybrid vehicles truly measure up and will exceed their expectations,” noted Vianese.
“In general people are usually surprised to find out that General Motors offers the most vehicles that average over 30 miles or more per gallon” added Vianese.
